I couldn’t see. Not near nor far. Though I’m not blind, every edge was just a bit blurred- faint and fading. Though I didn’t notice, clarity was something that had been lacking for a while. You see, the ability to see clearly is one of those things that goes gradually. It softens so slowly you can’t notice the change. And as it does you formulate reasons as to why things are the way they are. Like how you can’t plainly see the numbers on the clock above your stove perhaps because they are a heinous bright blue against a black top. Or that your eyes simply can’t adjust enough to focus on the words on the whiteboard due to the contrast in colors.

I couldn’t see. Not for years. Not until I had the chance to truly notice the difference a few weeks ago. During those split seconds, flipping back and forth from 1 to 2, made this unknown degression very apparent. The fuzzy space between letters didn’t have to be something to deal with anymore. Flying high as I drive below would be more than just blurry bird-shaped things; they'd be specimen with wings and beaks so sharp against the sky. Walking through the woods, pine needles and leaves didn’t have to be just blended blobs; they'd actually be clusters of individual entities. It’s amazing how out of focus everything was. All that was missed and all that went unnoticed due to that.

But luckily there was a simple solution, and now I can see again.

I absolutely love my glasses and I'm so happy I can see clearly now! Do you wear glasses?

  3. Ahhh so glad you can see properly again! My boyfriend, Lee, got glasses at the beginning of the year. All these months later, he still think it's amazing that the world is so different when he's wearing them - "It's like HD!" he's always telling me! haha! I myself went for an eye test last week (first one in 13 years!) and have found that I need to wear them for concentrated reading at a screen. unfortunately my job involves staring at screens for 10hours a day, so my eyes have started to feel the strain. Still, I'm really excited for my first pair of glasses to arrive - it feels like I have a new personality, which is bizzare! haha do you feel like that wearing them? You look gorgeous in them, by the way!

  7. I had the same experience when I applied for my motorbike driving license and suddenly realized I was short sighted! After getting my glasses there were so many more details in the world...

I wear glasses as well, it's become a part of my face now. though I do like how I look without them too haha
I hate having to choose between 1 and 2 at the eye doctor. It's like 1 or 2? 1 or 2? and I get confused and forget which one is actually better hahaha
